• Food for Thought Seminar – 25th June, Brighton

Brain food Brighton Hove nutrition wellbeing Do you use food as a prop when you are depressed or stressed?  How often have you noticed that when either skipping meals when busy, or reaching for comfort foods when you are feeling low this actually makes you feel worse? Are you affected by dark gloomy winter days and our unpredictable wet  weather, but then perk up when the sun comes out?

The mind is a powerful force in lives. Our behaviour, emotions, moods and day to day health are fundamentally controlled by a healthy brain and mind; both physically and psychologically, and this is often overlooked at our peril. Neglecting our mental health can manifest in a number of chronic conditions, which can be better avoided once the science is better understood.

The World Health Organization recognised this as far back as 1948 when they said  “ Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease of infirmity.”

Eating a diet which can feed the brain with the nutrients it needs to function can have a huge impact on all areas of your life including mood and depression, alertness and energy.  Alongside this, a positive mental outlook is also vital to support healthy ageing and to cope with day to day challenges such as stress and disease.

The next Brighton and Hove Wellness by the sea seminar, run with hypnotherapist and coach Marco Anholts from OpenMindz, will investigate social and psychological approaches to your mental health and wellbeing. We will explore the powerful mind and take you on a journey explaining how food, chemical imbalances and nutritional support can impact on mood, depression, hyperactivity, ageing, behaviour, concentration, intelligence and sleep. You will begin to understand how wellbeing and mental health can support you in living the life to the fullest.

We will suggest practical ways to help improve your mental state and memory through your choices of foods, and will share with your some practical exercises.

The seminar is being held on Tuesday 25 June, from 6.30pm – 8.30pm at
